The Rilo Kiley frontwoman (and Postal Service accomplice) plays most of the instruments on this tribute to her mom, classic soul and Laura Nyro-not necessarily in that order. Recorded in Nebraska and Oregon, this solo debut is "rootsy" and "gospel-y" (Lewis' words) and comes out on Conor Oberst's newish imprint.
